Letter: Issues deserve study, action

Sharon Springer’s op-ed article of Feb. 12 brings up some important issues. If IKEA wishes to be a good neighbor in building their new expansive store in the proposed location on San Fernando Boulevard, those issues need to be recognized and positive action should be taken.

Consider the surrounding population of apartment dwellers, senior facilities, disabled housing, schools and the community center. Many of these residents are or could be customers of IKEA.

The pedestrian walkways need to be user-friendly for everyone, including those with walkers, wheelchairs and the visually impaired.

In order to prevent further air pollution for residents, it would be most feasible and considerate to cover the parking area with solar panels, as suggested.

If IKEA helped out with these issues, they would be a most welcome neighbor!
