Letter: Group homes can lead to abuse

My daughter lives across the street from a “group home” in Sun Valley where the owner divided up every room in the house and jammed 23 males into this group home designed for six. After years of fighting with the city of Los Angeles, the home was closed because the tenants themselves filed suit against the owner.

This is why Burbank must be very careful with these homes. It is difficult right now to keep illegal back houses from being rented let alone having to protect ourselves from the abuses in zoning these homes can have.

The City Council must tread very carefully and build in lots of protections and enforcement or we could all end up dealing with the type of situation my daughter had to deal with.
