Manoogian started a hunger strike on March 17th to protest President Obama's congratulatory message to the re-election of actin President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan who is believed to be corrupt. His current diet consists of water and vitamin water, and he has calculated, given his starting weight of 220 pounds, that he can go without food for 2 to 2 and a half months.

Ara Manoogian is prepared to go without food for weeks, or even months, while camping in an RV parked outside Rep. Adam Schiff’s Burbank office. Manoogian said his hunger strike was in protest of President Obama’s congratulatory remarks toward the re-elected president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, amid allegations of election fraud and bribery following what Manoogian called a corrupt regime.
