SINGLES
Ally McKenzie, Junior, La Cañada
Won the Rio Hondo League championship, becoming first Spartan since 2001 to accomplish the feat. Finished with a 42-4 record and advanced to round of 20 in CIF Southern Section Individuals Tournament.
Cassie McKenzie, Sophomore, La Cañada
Was the younger member of the Spartans’ potent sister act. Finished with a 38-7 record and helped Spartans take second in Rio Hondo League and reach the CIF quarterfinals.
Nicole Merrit, Freshman, Burbank
Made an instant impact in her first season with the Bulldogs. She placed third in the Pacific League tournament and ended the season with a 37-11 record for the co-league champions.
DOUBLES
Elizabeth Sanchez, Senior and Meredy Gharabegi, Senior, Burbank
Teamed up to sweep all six sets against co-league champion Arcadia. Advanced to the Pacific League championship and made it to the second round of the Southern Section Individuals Tournament for co-league-champ Burbank.
Veronica Mendoza, Senior and Gabrielle Markari, Senior, Burbank
The duo was instrumental in helping the Bulldogs win a share of their first-ever Pacific League championship, as the pair was Burbank’s No. 1 doubles team for most of the season.
Emily Swanson, Senior and Serena Zheng, Senior, La Cañada
Spartans’ No. 1 tandem finished season going 38-16. Helped Spartans finish second in Rio Hondo League and advance to quarterfinals.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Loi Phan, Burbank
Helped the Bulldogs win a share of their first-ever Pacific League championship, which included an upset of then-No. 2 ranked Arcadia. It was the program’s first league title since 2003. Team went 16-3 and advanced to second round of the CIF Southern Section playoffs, losing in a tiebreaker.
