Bellarmine-Jefferson 66, St. Genevieve 64: The Guards were able to overcome a halftime deficit to earn the Santa Fe League victory Wednesday on the road.

Bell-Jeff (11-8, 2-1 in league), which trailed after two quarters, 34-29, received two crucial free throws in the final seconds by Clark Thomas. Thomas paced the Guards with 21 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Teammate Abid Oses chipped in 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Chadwick 62, Providence 51: The Pioneers (9-7) got off to a bad start, as they were outscored, 13-2, in the first quarter of their nonleague loss Wednesday at home.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Burroughs 13, Pasadena 7: The Indians won their second straight Pacific League contest with the victory Wednesday on the road.

Burroughs improved to 7-12, 2-2.
