Sports Roundup: Providence girls’ basketball’s LoVett drops 32 points in win

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Providence 66, Rio Hondo Prep 42: Freshman Jyah LoVett tallied 32 points, five rebounds and five steals to pace the Pioneers to a home Prep League victory Friday.

Audrey Sayoc added 18 points and four steals and Ariel Gordillo chipped in with six points and five rebounds for Providence (12-8, 4-1 in league).

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Burroughs 7, Burbank 0: The visiting Indians rolled to a Pacific League win Friday against the rival Bulldogs.

Burroughs (8-3-2, 5-1-2 in league) was paced by Lauryn Bailey, who had two goals and two assists. Lily Gonzalez added two goals.

Burbank fell to 3-10, 3-5.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Providence 81, Rio Hondo Prep 46: The Pioneers stormed to a Prep League victory Friday at home.

Providence improved to 15-5, 2-0 in league.

St. Monica 76, Lycee International of Los Angeles 54: The Lions slipped to 1-4, 0-3 in the International League with the loss Friday at New Revelation Baptist Church in Pasadena.
