Spots Roundup: Boulanger, Del Castillo ignite Burroughs girls’ basketball

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Burroughs 69, Muir 28: Faith Boulanger and Dyani Del Castillo helped lift the Indians to a Pacific League win Tuesday at home.

While Boulanger had 20 points and nine rebounds, Del Castillo added 15 points and seven rebounds. Ariana Farias chipped in with seven points, six rebounds, nine assists and four steals and Kayla Wrobel added 10 rebounds and five points for the Indians (17-6, 6-3 in league).

Arcadia 59, Burbank 47: The Bulldogs (13-8, 5-4 in league) couldn’t knock off the Pacific League’s first-place team Tuesday at home.

Chadwick 55, Providence 48: Despite 32 points and 16 rebounds from Pioneers’ Jyah LoVett, Providence fell Tuesday in a Prep League game on the road.

Audrey Sayoc had six points and Ariel Gordillo had six points and four assists for Providence (13-9, 5-2 in league).

Burroughs 57, Heritage Christian 37: Faith Boulanger had 21 points and eight rebounds Monday to pace the Indians to a nonleaue win at home.

Dyani Del Castillo added 10 points and 10 rebounds and Kayla Wrobel chipped in with 10 points, five rebounds and four steals.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Providence 65, Chadwick 51: The Pioneers remained unbeaten in the Prep League with the win Tuesday on the road.

Providence is 17-5, 4-0 in league.

Muir 66, Burroughs 63: The Indians couldn’t hold on in the Pacific League game Tuesday at home.

Burroughs is 10-12, 3-6 in league.

Providence 61, Pasadena Poly 53: The Pioneers earned the Prep League victory Saturday on the road.

Burbank 48, Carson 40: The Bulldogs earned the win Saturday in the 2019 Harvey Kitani Classic at Fairfax High.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Burroughs 13, Muir 0: Indians freshman Megan Schmidt had a hat trick for the Pacific League win Tuesday at Memorial Field.

Goalkeeper Kailyn Casper recorded her third straight shutout for Burroughs (10-3-2, 7-1-1 in league).

Arcadia 4, Burbank 0: The Bulldogs (3-11, 3-6 in league) couldn’t get past the defending Pacific League champion in a match Tuesday at home.

Burroughs 4, Pasadena 0: In a makeup match in wet conditions, the Indians rolled to a Pacific League victory Saturday on the road.

In outshooting the Bulldogs, 24-5, Burroughs received two goals from Olivia Cashman and a goal apiece by Lauren Bailey and Lily Gonzalez. Abbie Riggs had two assists and goalkeeper Kaylin Casper recorded the shutout.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Arcadia 2, Burbank 0: The Bulldogs slipped to 4-6-1, 3-5-1 in the Pacific League with the loss Tuesday on the road.

Burroughs 2, Muir 0: The Indians remained in first place in the Pacific League after earning the win Tuesday on the road.

Burroughs (11-2-5, 7-0-1 in league) received a goal each from David Gerlach and Esteban Alcantar.

Chadwick 5, Providence 1: The Pioneers (3-8, 0-2 in league) fell Saturday in a Prep League match at the Glendale Sports Complex.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Burroughs 16, Pasadena 2: The Indians rolled to a Pacific League victory at home Tuesday.

Burroughs improved to 5-7, 2-1 in league.
