Sports Roundup: Burbank boys’ basketball earns league victory over Hoover

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Burbank 61 Hoover 55: Erik Harutyunyan had 19 points to lead the Bulldogs to a Pacific League win Friday on the road.

Miles Dagostin and Jalen Clark added 12 points each for Burbank (16-9, 7-5 in league).

Pasadena 83, Burroughs 46: The Indians slipped to 11-14, 4-8 in the Pacific League with the road loss Friday.

Southwestern Academy 54, Lycee International of Los Angeles 45: The :Lions (2-6, 1-4 in the International League) fell Wednesday at Olive Recreation Center.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Burbank 61, Hoover 30: The Bulldogs (14-11, 6-6 in league) rolled to a Pacific League win Friday on the road.

Mayfield 42, Providence 37: The Pioneers fell Thursday in the Prep League game on the road.

Audrey Sayoc had 13 points and four steals, Ariel Gordillo had 12 points, seven rebounds and four steals and Jyah LoVett contributed 10 points, 11 rebounds and seven steals for Providence (14-11, 6-4 in league).

The Pioneers jumped out to a 12-8 lead after one quarter but were outscored, 18-6, in the second quarter and went into halftime with a 26-18 deficit. Providence was then held to six points in the third and headed into the final period trailing, 36-24. The Pioneers won the fourth quarter, 13-6.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

San Marino 7, Burbank 4: The Bulldogs (5-14) fell in a nonleague match Friday at home.

Burroughs 8, Burbank 1: The Indians stepped up with a fine defensive effort in earning the Pacific League win Wednesday at home.

Burroughs, which received four goals from Aleah Orozco, improved to 6-7, 5-1 in league, while Burbank slipped to 2-4 in league.

The teams will take part in the prelims of the Pacific League Tournament Tuesday at Arcadia High, where No. 6 Burbank will take on No. 5 Pasadena at 3:30 p.m. and No. 2 Burroughs will face No. 3 Arcadia at 4:30.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Pasadena 3, Burroughs 1: The Indians suffered their second straight Pacific League loss Thursday on the road.

Burroughs slipped to 12-5-3, 8-2-1 in league.

Heading into the final two games in league, the Indians are tied for first with Crescenta Valley, as they both have 26 points. Glendale is in third place with 25 points.

Burbank 0, Hoover 0: The Bulldogs (3-8-3, 2-7-3 in league) the Bulldogs played to a Pacific League stalemate Friday on the road.

Pasadena Poly 4, Providence 1: The Pioneers (4-11, 1-3 in the Prep League) suffered a loss Friday at Occidental College.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Burbank 1, Hoover 1: The Bulldogs played to a Pacific Leaue tie Friday at home.

Madie Chase scored the goal for Burbank (3-13-1, 5-6-1 in league).

Pasadena Poly 7, Providence 0: The Pioneers (5-10, 0-7 in league) had a rough Prep League outing Friday on the road.
