Sports Roundup: Win puts Burroughs boys’ soccer on doorstep of league title

BOYS’ SOCCER

Burroughs 3, Arcadia 1: The win Tuesday on the road put the Indians on the cusp of winning a Pacific League championship.

Burroughs (13-5-3, 9-2-1 in league) is tied with Crescenta Valley for first place in league with 29 points with one match remaining. The Indians can secure a share of the title with a win against host Burbank on Thursday. If Crescenta Valley loses or ties against Arcadia on Thursday in its league finale, Burroughs would win the championship outright.

Against Arcadia, Burroughs received goals from Luis Cortes, Esteban Alcantar and Manny Gonzalez.

Pasadena 5, Burbank 1: Burbank slipped to 3-9-3, 2-8-3 in league with the Pacific League loss Tuesday at home.

Providence 5, Santa Monica Pacifica Christian 1: The Pioneers (5-12) closed out their season Monday with a nonleague win at Occidental College.

Flintridge Prep 11, Providence 1: The Pioneers (1-6 in the Prep League) suffered the loss Saturday on the road.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Pasadena 72, Burbank 63: Erik Harutyunyan had 23 points and Miles Dagostin added 19 for the Bulldogs in the Pacific League loss Tuesday at home.

Burbank is 16-10, 7-6 in league.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Burroughs 39, Arcadia 38: The Indians knocked off the Pacific League-leading Apaches on Tuesday at home.

Faith Boulanger had 13 points and six rebounds, Dyani Del Castillo contributed nine points and eight rebounds and Kayla Wrobel had nine points and five rebounds for Burroughs (20-7, 9-4 in league).

Pasadana 63, Burbank 27: Burbank fell behind early and couldn’t come back in Tuesday’s Pacific League game on the road.

Burbank is 14-12, 6-7 in league.

Flintridge Prep 60, Providence 46: The Pioneers couldn’t avoid the season sweep at the hands of the Rebels in a Prep League game Monday.

Providence, which slipped to 14-13, 6-5 in league, received 15 points from Audrey Sayoc, 10 points from Jyah LoVett and six points and nine rebounds from Ariel Gordillo.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Pasadena 4, Burbank 1: Burbank (3-14-1, 5-7-1 in league) suffered a Pacific League loss Tuesday on the road.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Arcadia 7, Burroughs 2: The Indians (6-8 overall) fell short of earning a spot in the Pacific League Tournament championship with a loss Tuesday in a semifinal match at Arcadia High.
