BURROUGHS VS. CANYON

WHEN: 7 p.m. today.

WHERE: Canyon High.

RECORDS: The Indians are 1-0; the Cowboys are 0-0.

LAST WEEK: Burroughs lost to Saugus, 26-20; Canyon didn’t play.

OUTLOOK: Burroughs played well at times last week against the Centurions. However, there were other times in which the Indians had their problems. The team’s defense couldn’t stop the run, and Burroughs wasn’t able to sustain a solid running game. Despite the difficulties, the Indians remained in the game, as Saugus scored the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter. Two players did look good for Burroughs, senior quarterback Lucas Yanez and senior wide receiver Matt Volland. The two hooked up on a pair of touchdown passes, one for 69 yards. The Cowboys are coming off a disappointing season in which they went 2-9. Despite its record, Canyon did make the CIF Southern Section playoffs. The Cowboys have a good receiver in sophomore Drew Wolitarsky and a solid quarterback in junior Jonathan Jerozal, who passed for more than 1,200 yards as a sophomore.

SOMETHING INTERESTING: This will be the second of three straight weeks that Burroughs will be playing against a former Foothill League foe. Next week the Indians will play against host Hart.
