Burbank Vikings: Five teams from the Burbank Vikings Youth Tackle Football program enjoyed success in the first week of the season, winning their openers.

Leading the way was the Bantam Black, Junior Green and Bantam White squads, which all got shutouts. The Bantam Black earned a 30-0 victory against Camarillo Black on the road, the Junior Green team also won on the road against Newbury Park Gold, 38-0, as did the Bantam White against Calabasas Black, 14-0.

Also earning a win was the Bantam Green against North Oxnard Gray, 16-8.

In another win, the Junior Gold got by the North Oxnard White, 20-14.

In losing efforts, the Senior Green was downed by the Santa Clarita Indians, 35-0, the Midget Black fell to Canyon Gold, 22-8, and the Midget Green lost to North Oxnard Black, 38-12.

The Senior Black squad was leading North Oxnard, 22-13, before the lights went out at Burbank High. It’s unknown if the game will be resumed at a later date.
