Burbank in Woodbridge Invitational: Bulldogs senior McKenzie Paul had a record-breaking run in Saturday’s event.

Paul ran the fastest three-mile time in Burbank girls’ history, finishing in 17 minutes, 46 seconds to finish second in the gold race.

The Burbank junior boys finished second, led by Andrew Wernstrum (ninth; 15:57), Jacob Jun (12th; 16:01 and Jonathan Stoll in (17th; 16:06).

The sophomore boys finished first, led by Sergio Fraire (third; 15:46), Chris Huezo (11th; 16:11) and Bernie Corea (16th; 16:31).

The freshmen boys also won and were led by Elliot Choe (fifth; 16:43) and Isaiah Amos (sixth; 16:49).

Burroughs in Mt. Carmel Invitational: Anthony Monroy and the Indians teams enjoyed some fine results Saturday in the event at San Diego’s Balboa Park.

Monroy ran the 2.95-mile course in 14 minutes, 53 seconds, which was the third-fastest time in the meet’s history. He finished second to lead Burroughs to a second-place finish in the boys’ junior race.

Teammate Charlie Camacho also had a good race, placing eighth in 15:50. Also finishing the race were Ryan Johnson (20th; 16:17), Brandon Andrade (37th; 16:31), Kyle Freudenberg (45th; 16:42), Alec Villalpando (67th; 17:16), Zach Beimford (70th; 17:19), Jonathan Wijesooriya (79th; 17:29), Andrew Carrillo (110th; 18:18), Jerrod Plummer (130th; 18:35), Antony Mark (142nd; 18:51) and Brandon Mayorga (144th; 18:52).

Indians finishers in the senior boys’ race were Alex Martinez (80th; 16:52), William Stone (116th; 18:06) and Jadson Jadraque (145th; 19:13).

Finishing in the sophomore boys’ race were Grant Crater (37th; 17:35), Carlos Ortega (73rd; 18:11) and Jerry Truong (133rd; 19:39). Finishing in the freshmen boys’ race were Luis Celaya (19th; 18:27) and Francis Hilao (47th; 19:18).

The only other full Burroughs team to score was the sophomore girls’ squad, which placed eighth. Area finishers on the 2.7-mile course were Brice Edrington (29th; 17:49), Gracia Innocentia (30th; 17:58), Vanessa Amaya (60th; 18:57), Sammantha Fajardo (79th; 19:28) and Kayla Avila (90th; 19:55).

Senior girls’ finishers were Krisen Burroughs (56th; 18:29), Guadalupe Galindo (65th; 18:39) and Dina Figueroa (117th; 21:53).

Finishers in the girls’ junior race were Giovanna Carrasco (41st; 17:50) and Rita Murphy (57th; 18:29).

FOOTBALL

Burbank Vikings: Five Burbank Vikings Youth Tackle Football teams earned wins Saturday in second-week games.

Picking up victories was the Senior Black (1-0) against Newbury Park Black, 54-26, Senior Green (1-1) vs. Simi Valley, 35-13, Midget Black (1-1) against Ventura Orange, 22-0, Bantam Black (2-0) against North Oxnard White, 20-12, and Bantam White (2-0) against Ventura White, 24-14.

In losing efforts, Junior Gold (1-1) fell to North Oxnard Red, 46-16, Junior Green (1-1) was defeated by Ventura Black, 48-36, Midget Green (0-2) was nipped by North Oxnard Gray, 13-12, Bantam Green (1-1) lost to Ventura Black, 26-0, and Pee-Wees (0-1) fell to North Oxnard Red, 20-6.
