Losakul shares medalist honors

GIRLS’ GOLF

Pacific League Match No. 3: Burroughs High’s Rivipa Losakul tied for medalist honors in the event Tuesday at DeBell Golf Club.

Losakul tied with Crescenta Valley’s Jocelyn Chia, as they both fired 37s.

Arcadia won the event with a team total of 210. It was followed by Burroughs (215), Crescenta Valley (228), San Marino (239) and Burbank (253).

After three matches, Arcadia (15 points) leads in the league standings and the Indians (11) are second. San Marino (nine) is third, followed by Crescenta Valley (seven) and the Bulldogs (three).

Also scoring for Burroughs were Joany Gao (38), Jasmine Daniel (43), Shannon Pafford (48) and Alex Chandler (49).

Burbank scorers included Tess Apincapong (43), Haley Pirruccello (48), Nicole Chang (52) and Charyl Taylor (55) and Melani Cho (55).

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Arcadia d. Burbank, 2518, 25-19, 25-8: Sarah Tubert had 23 assists, Nia Treadwell had four kills and Danielle Reid had five kills for th Bulldogs (1-1 in league) in a Pacific League home loss Thursday.

Burbank d. Muir, 25-5, 25-6, 25-6: The Bulldogs had an easy time winning their Pacific League opener Tuesday at home.

Tyler Brooks had 11 assists and aces, Danielle Reid had five aces and Isis Torres had four aces for Burbank.

Immaculate Heart in Burbank Tournament: Led by Burbank resident Maddie Savant, the Pandas were able to win the championship in the tournament Sept. 18 at Burbank High.

Immaculate Heart defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 25-22, in the title game.

The Pandas also recorded wins against Providence, 25-14, 25-20, Cantwell Sacred Heart, 25-19, 25-16, Paraclete, 25-23, 25-23, Alemany, 25-14, and Village Christian, 25-18.

CROSS-COUNTRY

Providence in Providence Invitational: Junior Jaii Jiang had a record-breaking performance in Tuesday’s meet at Carson Park.

Jiang not only won the girls’ race, but she set a school record on the 2.6-mile course, finishing in 17 minutes, 46 seconds. She shattered the previous mark of 18:29, set by Jacquie Walsh in 1990.

The Pioneers also received a fine effort in the boys’ race, as junior Rafael Deligio won in a time of 15:38.

He helped Providence win the team title with 25 points, as it finished in front of Pacifica Christian (43) and Granada Hills Hillcrest Christian (66).

Teammate Aaron Zeigler placed second in the boys’ race in 16:31. He was followed by Eddie Mercado (sixth; 17:04), Yujin Okuda (seventh; 17:33), Bobby Storbakken (ninth; 17:48), Brian Aguilon (10th; 18:23), Eric Becerra (13th; 19:16), Andrew Carrillo (20th; 19:58), Gi Gonzales (27th; 23:45), Tustin Klinmali (28th; 24:59) and Kevin Kim (29th; 25:40).

In the girls’ race, Providence was fourth. Archer won the race (40) and was followed by Pacifica Christian (64), Hillcrest Christian (69), the Pioneers (87) and Holy Family (98).

Behind Jiang was Madeleine Garibaldi (14th; 20:48), Therese Vesagas (20th; 21:18), Cathy Garcia (23rd; 21:55), Samantha Granados (31st; 24:03) and Zoe Camp (25:14).

BOYS’ TENNIS

Burroughs 10, Hoover 8: The Indians were able to pull out the Pacific League victory Tuesday on the road.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Burbank in San Marino and El Rancho tournaments: The Bulldogs placed fourth in the San Marino Tournament last weekend and placed third in the El Rancho Tournament the previous week.

Burbank defeated Moorpark, 12-10, lost to ???Oxnard, 6-4, beat Crespi, 16-11, and got by Burroughs, 19- 6.

Against the Indians, Burbank had nine field players score, as the Bulldogs enjoyed had 12-2 run in the second half. Burbank led, 7-4, at halftime.
