Indians do well in track meet

VeteranThe Burroughs High track and field teams had some good results Saturday in the Mount San Antonio Invitational at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut.

In the girls’ Open high jump division, Indians’ Justice Shank placed seventh with an effort of 5 feet. Shannon Kermah plaed eighth in the Seeded long jump (15-11) and was seventh in the Seeded triple jump (35-3 1/4).

Boys’ travel hoop team organizing

Veteran Coach Mike Graceffo is organizing a boys’ eighth-grade travel basketball team for athletes in the Burbank and Glendale areas.

The goal of the team is to get the athletes prepared for high school competition. Players need to be in the eighth grade this school year.

Games will be played on weekends in the spring.

Hoop sessions for young players

Area youth players who want to improve their skills on the court can do so by taking part in MVP Basketball Clinics at Burbank’s Powerhouse Gym Sports Complex.

The facility is at 10950 Sherman Way, No. 160.

The clinics are on Tuesdays from 6-7 p.m. for players in the first and fifth grades and from 7-8 for players in sixth through ninth grades.

Classes are taught by qualified college, high school and recreation coaches and players, including local Mike Graceffo. Athletes will learn and practice the fundamentals of passing, shooting, dribbling, ball-handling, rebounding, footwork, conditioning and defense. Players will also take part in scrimmages and be exposed to game situations.

Report your youth sports results

The leader is looking to publish youth results and scores.

To get in youth sports results, whether its soccer, football, baseball, basketball, etc., please drop off or e-mail results The Leader encourages any and all teams to turn in their results weekly.

Along with varsity high school scores, the paper is also looking to publish freshman, sophomore-freshmen, and junior varsity results.

In order to provide the most comprehensive coverage possible, the Leader sports department is constantly trying to keep tabs on area athletes beyond high school.
