Indians stay in first place

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Burroughs d. Pasadena, 25-13, 25-19, 25-18: The Indians remained in first place in the Pacific League with a victory Thursday at home.

Burroughs (9-3, 4-0 in league) — ranked No. 9 in CIF Southern Section Division II-A — holds a one-game lead over Arcadia (3-1 in league), which is ranked No. 8 in the division.

Megan Stephenson paced the Indians with 11 kills. Teammate Catarina Emerson had 14 assists, Keana Figueroa had 12 assists and Laura Howard contributed five aces.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Arcadia 15, Burroughs 3: The defending-champion Apaches proved to be too tough for the Indians in a Pacific League match Thursday at Burroughs (2-3 in league).

Indians’ No. 1 singles Kathy Henry proved to be the team’s bright spot, as she won two sets, 0-6, 6-4, 7-5.
