Three area high school girls’ tennis and boys’ water polo teams qualified for this season’s CIF Southern Section playoffs, and all three will have to hit the road to start the postseason.

The lone water polo squad to make the playoffs is Burbank (17-9), which placed fourth in the Pacific League. The Bulldogs will travel to take on Los Altos (12-17) for a Division V wild-card contest at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Los Altos placed third in the Hacienda League.

If Burbank wins it will take on host Pasadena Poly (23-2), the Prep League champion, in a first-round match Wednesday.

Burbank is fresh off a 16-10 upset win Thursday against Crescenta Valley in the league tournament.

In tennis, Burbank placed third in the Pacific League and Burroughs was fourth. The Bulldogs will face host Rowland — the runner-up in the Hacienda League — and the Indians travel to Cypress — No. 3 in the Empire League — at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Division II wild-card contests.
