Indians sweep up Tornadoes

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Burroughs 3, Hoover 0: Daniel Marbach finished with seven kills and seven aces Tuesday to lead the visiting Indians to a 25-6, 25-13, 25-12 Pacific League victory. Burroughs (12-2, 6-0 in league) got 17 assists from BJ Lagmay.

On Friday, visiting Burroughs posted a 25-17, 13-25, 25-18, 25-16 league win over Claremont. Daniel Jacobs led the Indians with 13 kills, while Ike Nwachie collected 12 kills and Robby Rutecki added 11 kills and 11 digs. Lagmay chipped in with 36 assists.

SOFTBALL

Burroughs 11, Glendale 1: Haley Schulman had three hits, including a pair of doubles, on Tuesday to lead the host Indians to a Pacific League victory at Olive Park. In the circle, Schulman struck out nine in a complete game. Shannon Trujillo had three hits, including a home run and a double, and drove in two runs for Burroughs (11-1, 3-0 in league), while Caitlin Loera had two hits, two runs and two RBI and Davina Del Castillo also had a pair of hits, a run and an RBI.

BASEBALL

Burbank 21, Rolling Hills Prep 0 (five innings): Ricky Perez and Hector Rodriguez each hit a home run Tuesday to lead the host Bulldogs in a nonleague game Tuesday. Perez and Harrison Hernandez drove in five and four runs, respectively, to help the Bulldogs improve to 4-6.

Providence 26, Delphi Academy 0 (five innings): Anthony Galvan had three hits and drove in seven runs Monday to power the Pioneers (5-2) in a nonleague contest at Stonehurst Park. Galvan also struck out nine in four innings. A.J. Jaspe collected three hits and drove in four runs for Providence.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

Burroughs in Trabuco Hills Invitational: Anthony Monroy clocked 9 minutes 28.64 seconds Saturday to take fourth in the 3,200-meter event.

Glendale 93, Burroughs 42: Anthony Monroy picked up a pair of first-place finishes for the Indians on Thursday in a Pacific League dual meet. Monroy captured the 800-meter race in two minutes and the 1,600 (4:22). Burroughs also received a first-place finish from Andrew Carrillo in the pole vault (11 feet).

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

Glendale 91, Burroughs 45: The Indians received first-place efforts Thursday from Giovanna Carrasco in the pole vault (15 feet 6 inches) and Elizabeth Brooke in the shot put (8 feet) in a Pacific League dual meet.
