Softball players get their chance at fun and games: Last weekend, baseball players from the Burbank Park, Recreation and Community Services Department Hap Minor league took part in the annual Burbank Civitan Baseball Jamboree at Olive Park.

Saturday, it’s the girls from the Ponytail Softball league who get to participate in their end-of-the-year event at the park.

The day will start with a parade at 8:30 a.m. at the Burroughs parking lot that will wind its way to Olive Park. The players will then gather for the traditional skills competition, where athletes will try and earn trophies in events like baserunning, hitting for distance and throwing for accuracy.

In addition, hot dogs and punch will be prepared and served to the young ball players.
