All-Area boys’ volleyball first team

FIRST TEAM

Robert Adamson, Junior, Opposite Hitter, South Pasadena

All-Rio Hondo League first-team honoree averaged 3.3 kills, and 1.5 digs per game. He helped the Tigers grab first leage title since 2008 and reach CIF Southern Section Division III quarterfinals.

Michael Bacall, Senior, Outside Hitter, St. Francis

Collected 184 kills, 81 digs and 24 aces to help the Golden Knights qualify for the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs. Earned a spot on the All-Mission League first team.

Wesley Cormier, Senior, Middle Blocker, Crescenta Valley

Earned All-CIF Southern Section Division III first-team honors after recording a team-high 279 kills, 51 blocks and 55 aces. Named to the All-Pacific League first team and helped the Falcons reach the CIF quarterfinals.

Daniel Jacobs, Junior, Opposite Hitter, Burroughs

Set a school record with 264 kills to go along with 101 digs and 47 aces. Received All-Pacific League first-team accolades and helped the Indians reach the CIF Southern Section Division III semifinals.

Ike Nwachie, Senior, Middle Blocker, Burroughs

A force in the middle, he proved to be a defensive stalwart, helping the Indians grab a share of the Pacific League crown. The first-team all-league selection finished with 217 kills and 65 blocks.

Robby Rutecki, Senior, Middle Blocker, Burroughs

Enjoyed a banner season, capped by being named to the All-CIF Southern Section Division III first team and the All-Pacific League co-Most Valuable Player. Tallied 197 kills, 160 digs and 31 aces.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Mark Frazee, St. Francis

Guided the Golden Knights to a record of 19-6. The team went 7-5 in the ultra-competitive Mission League to tie for third place. He steered St. Francis to the postseason for the first time since 2004.
