As expected, San Marino High’s boys’ tennis team garnered the top seed when the CIF Southern Section playoff pairings were released on Monday morning.

Joining the Titans in the Division II draw is Pasadena Poly, which is also hosting a first-round match on Wednesday, while Maranatha hosts a Division V playoff opener and La Salle takes to the road for a wild-card match in the same division.

The Titans (14-0), after claiming the Rio Hondo League championship, await Walnut, the Hacienda League’s third-place squad, or Flintridge Prep, an at-large entry out of the Prep League.

Should the Titans prevail in Wednesday’s first-round matchup at 3 p.m., they would face either Camarillo or Hart on Friday in the second round.

On the same side of the bracket, Pasadena Poly (14-2), after winning the Prep League title, will host Santa Monica (5-4), the Ocean League’s second-place squad, in Wednesday’s opening round. A win for the Panthers would put them up against Rowland, the Hacienda League champion with a perfect 25-0 record, or a wild-card entry.

After winning the Olympic League, Maranatha (12-5) will host a wild-card winner on Wednesday, either St. Monica Catholic or Sierra Vista, who play Tuesday. Should the Minutemen win their opener, they would face San Bernardino or Yucca Valley on Friday.

On Tuesday, La Salle (8-12), having finished third in the Del Rey League, will travel to face La Sierra, which took second in the River Valley League. A win would put the Lancers into Wednesday’s first round against Village Christian, the second-place finisher out of the Olympic League.

All matches are scheduled for a 3 p.m. start unless a different start time is agreed upon by both coaches.
