Sports Roundup: Burbank, Burroughs boys’ basketball teams notch tourney wins

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Burbank 74, Sierra Vista 30: The Bulldogs received 18 points from Adam Pasco on Tuesday in a victory at the Glendora Tournament.

Anthony Kardosh added 15 points and Cody Bosman chipped in 12 for Burbank (3-2).

Burroughs 87, Marshall Fundamental 50: Paced by Adam Wainwright’s 23 points, the Indians were able to cruise to a victory Tuesday in the Pasadena Poly Tournament.

Wainwright also added 15 rebounds, six assists and four blocks. Steven Sanchez had 20 points, including six three-pointers, for Burroughs (3-2).

Bellarmine-Jefferson 57, Roybal 48: The Guards were able to pick up the win Tuesday in a pool-play game at the Jim Nakabara Classic at University High.

Missing two starters, the Guards (2-1) were paced by Raffy Verano, who had 17 points. Teammate Parker Williams added 15 points and Clark Thomas chipped in 13.

L.A. Price 78, Bellarmine-Jefferson 61: The Guards trailed powerhouse Price by just five points heading into the fourth quarter, but faded down the stretch Monday in a pool-play game of the Jim Nakabara Classic at University High.

Clark Thomas tallied 21 points and Abid Oses added 20 for Bell-Jeff.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Burroughs 80, Monrovia 15: Jordan Meltzer had 13 points and Brooke Radcliff added 12 points and four steals Monday to pace the Indians to a win in the opening round of the Burroughs Magnolia Park Optimist Club Tournament.

Paula Galicia contributed nine points and five rebounds, Kamryn Cardenaz had seven points and Delaney Nicol had six points, four assists and five steals for Burroughs.

Burroughs 66, Fairview 61 (OT): The Indians were able to pull out the win Saturday in their final game in the Valencia High Five Classic at Valencia High.

Paula Galicia had 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists to pace Burroughs, while Brooke Radcliff had 15 points and five steals. Teammate Sidney Ortega added 12 points and Davina Del Castillo contributed nine points and nine rebounds and Delaney Nicol had seven points and seven assists. Nicol was named to the all-tournament team.

Renaissance Academy 40, Bellarmine-Jefferson 33: Mckenzie Dowling scored 16 points Saturday for the Guards in a nonleague loss at Bell-Jeff.

Priscilla Punizo added nine points and Jessica Pereyra contributed six for the Guards (1-1).
