Burroughs High’s girls’ basketball team turned in a perfect run through the Pacific League, winning the league crown just as Providence claimed the Liberty League championship.

Those league accomplishments will have both the Indians and Pioneers nestled in their home gyms when the playoffs start this week after pairings were released on Sunday, while Burbank will venture on the road.

Burroughs (22-6) was bestowed with the No. 6 seed and will host Riverside Poly (12-15), which finished fourth in the Inland Valley League, to open the Division 1-A postseason. The winner will move on to Wednesday’s second round and face 11th-seeded Chino or Paloma Valley.

Burbank (18-10), though it earned the 12th seed in the Division 1-A playoffs, will head to the road to take on Knight (17-8), the Golden League champion, in the first round on Saturday night. The Bulldogs finished third in the Pacific League and will look to advance to Wednesday’s second round where they would face fifth-seeded Canyon Country Canyon or El Toro.

Providence (16-6) opens up play in the Division 4-A tournament on Thursday and will host Fillmore (11-11), the Frontier League fourth-place team. The Pioneers, seeded seventh, will face Village Christian or Campbell Hall if they advance into Saturday’s second round.
