SPORTS ROUNDUP: Flintridge Sacred Heart softball tops Flintridge Prep

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 12, Flintridge Prep 1: Hannah Zika had a pair of doubles Monday to spark the visiting Tologs in a nonleague game. The Tologs (5-1) got three hits from and two runs batted in from OIlivia Fitzpatrick.

Therese Oshiro collected a pair of hits for the Rebels (2-2). In the circle, Oshiro struck out seven.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Flintridge Prep 3, St. Genevieve 0: Dante Fregoso finished with 12 kills and 17 digs Monday to spark the visiting Rebels (6-1) to a 25-15, 25-22, 25-20 nonleague win. Trip Westmoreland added eight kills for Flintridge Prep (6-1)

In the Providence Tournament on Saturday, the Rebels advanced to the championship match, falling to La Salle, 25-24, 25-19 (All tournament games are capped at 25).

Dante Fregoso and Kyle Law contributed six and five kills, respectively for Flintridge Prep. Flintridge Prep held a 24-22 lead in the first game before La Salle rattled off the next three points.

In a semifinal match, Flintridge Prep posted a 25-15, 18-25, 25-23 victory over Campbell Hall. Fregoso had 15 kills and Trip Westmoreland added 11 kills and Aldridge Khin added 38 assists.

“This was a good experience and we’ll grow from it,” Flintridge Prep Coach Sean Beattie said. “La Salle has got a very good team and I thought we played real well against them.”

BOYS’ TENNIS

Hoover 14, La Salle 4: The visiting Tornadoes (4-3) cruised to a nonleague win Monday. Hoover received a sweep in singles from Hrant Aghakanian (6-0, 6-0, 6-0) and a sweep in doubles from Danny Kim and Artur Arutunyan (6-1, 6-2, 6-1).

St. Francis 11, Flintridge Prep 7: The host Golden Knights (4-0) picked up a nonleague win Monday at Fremont Tennis Center.
