Roundup: Burbank baseball handles Muir for league win

BASEBALL

Burbank 11, Muir 1 (five innings): The Bulldogs earned the Pacific League victory Friday on the road.

Pitcher Randy Higgens got the win for the Bulldogs (7-12, 4-6 in league), going two innings. Reliever Rory Roughtean pitched two innings and Cameron Briggs tossed one. Chandler Robbins had two hits for Burbank.

SOFTBALL

Burbank 18, Muir 0 (five innings): The Bulldogs had 13 hits in earning the Pacific League victory Thursday on the road.

The win keeps Burbank (19-3, 10-0 in league), ranked No. 2 in CIF Southern Section Division III, in first place in league.

Pitcher Hanna Moulton tossed an abbreviated no-hitter, going five innings and striking out seven. Moulton also went three for three with a double and a run batted in. Teammate Sabrina Steward went two for three with five RBI and Julia Duarte was two for three with a double and two RBI.

Burbank got things started early, pushing across 10 runs in the top of the first inning.

Burroughs 15, Hoover 0 (five innings): Michelle Santiago was two for four with a home run and two runs batted in to pace the Indians to a Pacific League win Thursday at Olive Park.

Burroughs (16-5-1, 8-2 in league), ranked No. 7 in CIF Southern Section Division III, currently sits in second place in league.

Sidney Ortega was three for four with a double, three runs scored and an RBI and Cheyenne Steward had a home run and two RBI for the Indians.

BOYS’ GOLF

Providence 242, Santa Clarita Christian 262: The Pioneers were victorious in the Liberty League match Thursday at De Bell Golf Club.
