The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority will soon have a new leader at the helm.

Frank R. Miller accepted an offer by TBI Airport Management, Inc., the authority’s management firm, to become the new executive director of the local airport, replacing longtime employee Dan Feger, according to a statement issued by the authority on Wednesday.

The authority will decide whether to affirm TBI’s vote during its meeting on Aug. 15. Should board members vote to make Miller the new executive director, he will take on the chief role starting Sept. 6.

Miller has been involved in the aviation industry for 33 years, with more than half his career being spent in leadership positions.

He recently served six years at the aviation director for the San Antonio Airport System, overseeing the operations of the San Antonio International Airport and Stinson Municipal Airport, according to the authority.

Prior to his position in Texas, Miller spent 22 years in Florida as Pensacola Regional Airport’s airport director.

Miller was also an airport manager for the Walker Field Airport Authority in Grand Junction, Colo. and an airport manager for Juneau, Alaska.

“Frank’s wealth of experience and aviation knowledge is important for the direction of this airport,” said authority President Bill Wiggins in the statement.

The authority has been searching for a new executive director since April after Feger announced that he would be retiring May 1, 2018, when he will be turning 65 years old and capping off a 30-year career at Hollywood Burbank Airport.

Feger started his career at the airfield in 1988 as an airport engineer and became executive director in 2008.

Should the authority board decide to make Miller the new executive director, Feger will become director of development services. In that role, Feger will assist Miller with the day-to-day operations until he leaves in 2018.
