Firefighter hospitalized battling fast-moving attic fire at Burbank home

A firefighter was hospitalized with heat exhaustion after battling a fast-moving attic fire in Burbank on Thursday afternoon, officials said.
A resident called 911 just before 1 p.m. after smelling smoke in his home while working in his office. When firefighters arrived, they found the blaze traveling rapidly through the attic of the home, located near Sixth Street and Cornell Drive, said Burbank Fire Battalion Chief Ron Barone.

“Those are difficult for us to extinguish,” he said, noting that the fire was hidden between the roof and the ceiling before traveling down to the second story.
In roughly an hour, 55 firefighters from Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena knocked down the fire, which caused an estimated $700,000 in damage to the home, Barone said.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
