Burbank man pleads not guilty to shooting friend in the foot
A 23-year-old Burbank man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges that he shot his friend in the foot earlier this month, authorities said.
Carlen Stepanian allegedly shot his friend in the foot on Sept. 3 after the friend tried to intervene while Stepanian had an altercation with his brother, said Burbank Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn.
Police discovered the shooting victim during a traffic stop, in which Stepanian’s brother and mother, along with the victim, were reportedly speeding to the hospital.
Stepanian had reportedly fled the scene – which was a home on the 900 block of Fairmont Road – prompting police to ask the public’s assistance in locating him.
Stepanian turned himself in at the Burbank Police Department on Friday evening, Ryburn said.
He is being held in lieu of $1.5 million bail and is due back in court next month, according to Los Angeles County jail records.
