Farmer’s market moving to new location

The weekly Burbank Farmer’s Market has moved to Glenoaks Boulevard and Olive Avenue to make room for the construction of an ice-skating rink behind City Hall for the holiday season.

The market, selling fresh fruit and vegetables, will continue operating from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each Saturday, but now it will be in the Community Services Building’s parking lot through the holidays, and perhaps permanently if it is a success, said Elaine Paonessa, president of the Burbank Farmer’s Market Guild.

The Burbank Farmer’s Market has served the community for 30 years and is one of the only nonprofit markets in Southern California, Paonessa said. A portion of the market’s proceeds are donated to the Providence/St. Joseph Hospital Foundation, which provides free medical care to thousands of people each year.

Parking is available in the parking structure on Orange Grove, the police department’s public parking lot on Orange Grove, and the parking lot at Glenoaks and Olive Avenue, across from Central Library.

Ramps for the disabled are accessible at the Third Street entrance to the parking lot.
