Pedestrian struck by SUV dies of injuries

The 87-year-old Burbank pedestrian who was struck by an SUV on Thursday morning died of her injuries the following night, police said.

The woman, identified as Rosa Rivera, was struck just before 9 a.m. Thursday while crossing the driveway of a shopping center at Walnut Avenue and San Fernando Boulevard, said Burbank Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn.

Rivera, who appeared to be headed to a nearby grocery store, suffered severe head injuries and was transported to a local trauma center, where she later died.

The driver, a 35-year-old Burbank woman, reportedly showed no signs of intoxication.

The investigation remained ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call Burbank police at (818) 238-3103.

Editor’s Note: A previous version of this article stated the driver was 36-years-old. She is 35.
