Three arrested for alleged embezzlement

A T.J. Maxx employee and two customers were arrested Tuesday after allegedly stealing more than $3,375 worth of items from the Burbank store over a three-month period, police said.

On seven occasions since August, the 26-year-old employee, Hayk Avalyan, reportedly bagged more than 50 items at the register for the customers — identified as Ruzan Martirosyan, 50, and Davit Avalyan, 23 — without charging them, said Burbank Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn.

Davit Avalyan was allegedly involved in only the last theft, which occurred on Tuesday evening, police said.

All three suspects were arrested on suspicion of embezzlement.
