Albert M Irwin<br/> February 11, 1918 - December 22, 2014

Newport Beach’s beloved “Coach” and Lifeguard, Albert M Irwin, passed away on Monday, Dec. 22nd, 2014. He will be remembered as a gentleman who changed the course of many lives bringing out the best in others. During the weeks prior to his passing, Al received an outpouring of support from former student athletes, coaches, fellow Lifeguards, friends and family. Well wishers came to express their love and to say “Thank You” for his positive influence on their lives.

Al was preceded in death by his wife of 66 yrs. Lois, and daughter Claudia. He is survived by his daughter Marcia Maze and her husband Dave, granddaughter Carrie Hammond, her husband Chris, grandson Casey Maze his wife Kathleen and 4 cherished great grandsons, Burke, Derek, Walker and Colton.

A Celebration of his life will be held at the American Legion, 215 15th St., Newport Beach, Ca. Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 at 10:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hoag Hospital Foundation in memory of Al Irwin. Donations will support Nursing Scholarships for Hoag nurses.
