Dr. David Maurice Smith
In loving memory of Dr. David Maurice Smith, 55, of Newport Beach, who passed away on February 9, 2012. Born on January 9, 1957 in Whittier, California. Loving husband and father to four children.

He grew up in Whittier along with his two sisters and brother and attended California High School. He met his beloved wife, Donna, while growing up in Whittier, and had been together since she was thirteen years old. He and Donna both went on to UCLA and then to USC School of Dentistry. David went on to own multiple dental practices and practiced for over twenty-five years, fueled by loyal patients and the love for helping others. He and Donna raised their four children, Tyler, Brad, Caroline, and Troy, in Laguna Niguel, San Juan Capistrano, and Newport Beach.

David lived an active and joyous life, constantly taking part in activities with his wife and four children. He and Donna were running and walking buddies for their entire lives and enjoyed walks on the horse trails of San Juan Capistrano and the walking trails of Crystal Cove State park. His true sporting passion was for the game of golf; he grew up with the game and passed it down to his sons. Some of the most meaningful times he spent with his sons were on the golf course. He was also a mainstay on the sidelines of his children’s sporting events. Being a history major in college, David loved reading about the founding fathers of America and imitated their best characteristics in his own life. He always put his family’s needs and wants first and was able to find joy in doing so. His life is one to be emulated. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, doctor, and friend who will be terribly missed.
