The deadline is quickly approaching for Laguna Beach nonprofits to let the city know if they are interested in placing a banner with their name on it above Forest Avenue in the heart of downtown in 2018.

The nonprofits can apply each year to display a banner for two two-week periods. The permit fee for a banner is $50.

Organizations have until 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to contact Patty Slowsky at pslowsky@lagunabeachcity.net, according to a city news release. There is no formal application form.

City staff will email nonprofit representatives a list of available dates — the city has reserved certain weeks — and the representatives, in turn, will list their first, second and third choices.

Once organizations submit their date preferences, the city will draw names using a lottery system.
