Teen skateboarder injured when he’s hit by a car in Newport Beach

A teenager suffered minor injuries Friday morning when he was hit by a car on Westcliff Drive in Newport Beach, police said.

Police responded to reports of an accident at 9:04 a.m. in the area of Westcliff and Rutland Road near Newport Harbor High School. They found a 17-year-old boy had been hit by a Porsche while he was riding a skateboard, said Lt. Randy Querry of the Newport Beach Police Department.

The boy, who was crossing in a marked crosswalk, suffered bruises and cuts and was taken to a hospital for evaluation, Querry said.

The driver, who remained at the scene, was uninjured.
