A woman was arrested in Costa Mesa over the weekend on allegations that she tried to attack a person with a fireplace poker and then bit a police officer, according to authorities.

Police said they responded to a sober-living home in the 2700 block of Cibola Avenue at 11:04 p.m. Saturday.

A female client living at the home had been acting erratically and tried to attack an employee there with the poker, Costa Mesa police Sgt. Matt Selinske said.

Staff at the home disarmed the woman without anyone getting hurt, Selinske said. But when police arrived and tried to arrest her, she resisted, authorities said. She kicked one officer and bit him on a finger but didn’t break the skin, police said.

Officers arrested Kristen Scali, 25, on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and battery on a police officer, Selinske said. She previously lived in Massachusetts, according to authorities.

Scali was booked into Orange County Jail with bail set at $25,000, according to Sheriff’s Department records.
