Birds of prey on display at wetlands talk

Visitors to the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve on Thursday had a chance to learn from experts about the "Raptors of the Bolsa Chica Wetlands."

The event at the Bolsa Chica Conservancy's Interpretive Center featured speakers from the Orange County Bird of Prey Center in Lake Forest and an opportunity to meet such animals up close. They included Gus, a Western screech owl; Tweek, a great horned owl; J.R. Harris, a hawk; and Hank, a red-tailed hawk.

Because of its rich food sources and good climate, Bolsa Chica hosts many birds of prey, also known as raptors, according to a news release.

The interpretive center is at 3842 Warner Ave., Huntington Beach.
