The small-dog section of the Costa Mesa Bark Park is expected to be closed until mid-June while crews renovate the area’s landscaping, amenities and irrigation system.

A portion of the large-dog area has been fenced off for smaller pets to use until the renovations are completed, according to the city.

Work began last week on the project, which entails planting new turf seed, installing new benches and access gates, reconstructing watering stations and adding new seating areas made of decomposed granite.

New screening between the small- and large-dog areas also will be added.

The Bark Park is at 890 Arlington Drive.
