A rollover crash snarled Thursday morning traffic at Newport Boulevard and Fair Drive in Costa Mesa.

Around 6:15 a.m., officers were called to the intersection, where a Toyota pickup had flipped after colliding with a Chrysler PT Cruiser, Costa Mesa police Sgt. Pat Wessel said.

Witnesses told police that the PT Cruiser was headed south on Newport just north of Fair, Wessel said.

The pickup reportedly was headed east on Fair when it went through a red light and the two vehicles crashed in the intersection, police said.

No one was seriously hurt, but both drivers complained of pain, Wessel said.

According to the Police Department Facebook page, officers shut all but one lane of traffic at the intersection, but it was reopened by about 7:30 a.m., according to Wessel.

Police are investigating the crash.
