Newport school offers veterans breakfast and an audience

Teachers, parents and students at Mariners Elementary School welcomed veterans to campus Thursday for an early celebration of Veterans Day.

The Newport Beach school played host to more than 30 vets.

The event kicked off with breakfast for the veterans and continued with a welcome presentation from Principal Matt Broesamle and visits to classrooms, where veterans could share their stories with students.
