Laguna Beach expects canyon road to be mostly open during utility work

Share

Drivers should still have one lane in each direction on Laguna Canyon Road as Cox Communications crews begin Tuesday to place cables and other utility equipment underground, according to a city of Laguna Beach news release.

Construction will require the outbound lane to be moved periodically into the center turn lane between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays through January, the release said.

The goal of the work is to place overhead utility wires below ground in an area known as Big Bend. After cables are installed, crews will remove above-ground utility wires and other equipment.

Multiple utility companies are involved in the project. Southern California Edison performed its share of the work earlier this year.
