Around Town: Three longtime Pacific Symphony musicians retire

Share

The Pacific Symphony announced that three of its longtime members are retiring: concertmaster Raymond Kobler, principal violist Robert Becker and French horn player Russell Dicey.

Kolber joined the symphony in 1999 after serving at the San Francisco Symphony.

“Of course, we will miss Raymond dearly,” Pacific Symphony President John Forsyte said in a statement. “There is nobody who matches Raymond’s passion and leadership. He plays everything like it’s his last concert.”

Becker started with the Pacific Symphony in 1982, including its beginnings playing at venues like Santa Ana High School before the orchestra found its home at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa.

Dicey, who played fourth horn, served 34 seasons with the ensemble. He will remain as the Pacific Symphony’s music librarian.
