A Los Angeles man entered a plea and was sentenced to 22 years in state prison Friday in connection with a violent Laguna Beach home invasion robbery in 2013.

As part of a deal with prosecutors, Jyvontaye Demetric Harris, 24, pleaded guilty to one count each of robbery and participating in criminal street gang activity as well as a sentencing enhancement for criminal street gang activity, all felonies. Eighteen other felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment and being armed with a firearm in the commission of a felony, were dismissed as part of the agreement with prosecutors, according to Orange County Superior Court records.

Police allege that Harris and Tyrone Lamont Beasley, also of Los Angeles, burst into a Laguna Beach home at 10:30 p.m. Oct. 13, 2012, pistol whipped two of the three men inside and made off with jewelry.

Laguna Beach police detectives had few leads at the time since there seemed to be no connection between the robbers and the victims.

A Los Angeles Police Department narcotics search warrant tipped authorities to Beasley and Harris.

Los Angeles detectives found a cellphone that had been stolen during the home invasion on a member of the Bounty Hunter Bloods, which police describe as an “extremely violent” South Los Angeles gang. The cellphone linked the two men to the crime, according to authorities.

Harris and Beasley were arrested in April 2013. Beasley was sentenced in March 2015 to 19 years in state prison, according to court records.
