Newport police seek help in identifying 2 package thieves
Police were searching Thursday for two people who stole a package from the front porch of a Newport Beach home, authorities said.
Police responded to a report of the theft in the 500 block of San Bernardino Avenue at about 2 p.m. Oct. 11, police said.
The resident was home when the package was delivered, though he did not immediately get it from the porch, police said.
About 20 minutes later, he saw a woman on surveillance video stealing the package, police said.
The man saw the woman get into a red sedan with a man in the driver’s seat and they sped away, police said.
A neighbor across the street told police that the driver had approached his front porch but was scared off when the neighbor opened his door. A package was outside the front door at the time, and the neighbor believed the man intended to steal it, police said.
