Armed robber in Costa Mesa makes off with man’s cigarettes and lighter

A man escaped injury after being robbed at gunpoint in Costa Mesa early Wednesday, police said.

A man with a handgun approached another man in the 300 block of Wilson Street at 2:30 a.m., according to Costa Mesa police Sgt. Mike Manson. The gunman was described as in his 20s with dark hair.

The victim gave the gunman his cigarettes and lighter and ran. The robber got into a dark-colored BMW sedan and fled, Manson said.
