High School Roundup: Newport Harbor girls’ water polo too much for Barons

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Newport Harbor 22, Fountain Valley 1

Karis Couch, Lissa Westerman and Kaela Whelan all scored four goals for the Sailors in Wednesday’s Sunset League game at Newport Harbor High.

Sarah Barker scored three for Newport Harbor (9-5, 2-0 in league), while Jessica Lynch and Kili Skibby had two each. Chloe Schilling made three saves and Emma Kennedy had five.

The Sailors play against Royal on 5 p.m. Thursday at Dos Pueblos High in a play-in game of the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions.

Estancia 10, Godinez 3

SANTA ANA — Hayley Hopp and Katelyn Chesemore each scored three goals for the Eagles in their Orange Coast League opener on the road Wednesday.

Kalena Shepherd, Sydni White, Julia Paluch and Annie Mitchell also scored for Estancia.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Ocean View 2, Loara 1

ANAHEIM — Analisa Chavez and Brittany Lopez both scored for the Seahawks in Tuesday’s Golden West League opener on the road.

Lopez scored the game-winner on a free late in the second half for Ocean View (3-10-1, 1-0 in league). Jasmine Rocha made six saves.

Ocean View plays host to Santa Ana on Thursday.
