UCI’s Jewett repeats as Big West honoree

UC Irvine sophomore Isaiah Jewett has been named Big West Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for the second straight week.

Jewett won the 800 meters in a personal-record 1 minute, 49.14 seconds at the UCI Spring Break Collegiate Classic. He bettered his previous best by 5.24 seconds.

He also ran a 46.3 split on the final leg of the 4x400 relay, helping his team finish third with a season-best 3:11.75.

Jewett currently sits at the top of the conference leaderboards in the 400, 800 and 4x400.

UCI competes at the UC Riverside Spring Classic Invitational, Thursday through Saturday.
