College Roundup: Lamunu goes for 30 points, 14 rebounds

Claire Lamunu had 30 points and 14 rebounds to lead the host Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Saturday.

Lamunu made 12 of 19 field-goal attempts and added three blocked shots and two steals to help the No. 6-ranked Lions improve to 16-1, 4-0 in conference.

Maya Kennedy had 15 points on five-for-10 shooting from three-point range for the winners.

Arizona Christian is 9-7, 3-2.

Santa Ana 92, Orange Coast 81

SANTA ANA – Michelle Wu had 19 points and Chyann Pendergrass added 16 for the visiting Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference game on Friday.

Megan Lewis added 11 points and six rebounds for OCC (13-9, 1-3 in conference).

Santa Ana is 12-8, 2-2.

LOS ANGELES – Senior Michael Saeta had seven kills and seven digs to lead the No. 7-ranked Anteaters, who fell, 25-16, 25-18, 25-22, in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Thursday.

UCI fell to 5-1, 2-1.

The Bruins are ranked No. 2.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Vanguard 65, Arizona Christian 64

Senior Zach Allmon tipped in a rebound with 19 seconds left for the game-winner in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Saturday.

Allmon, who netted a pair of free throws to tie the score, 63-63, with 1:45 left, saw the Lions (14-4, 3-1 in conference) go down by one with 35 seconds left.

Allmon finished with 12 points and nine rebounds, while Shacquille Dawkins and Brandon Hood added 11 points each for the winners.

ACU is 12-5, 0-4.

Cal State Fullerton 64, UC Irvine 53

FULLERTON – Andee Ritter had 13 points and Sabrina Engelstad added 12 for the visiting Anteaters in the Big West Conference game Saturday.

Shareen Sutherland had nine points and eight rebounds, while Brooke Bayman added six points and seven assists for UCI (3-15, 1-3 in conference).

Fullerton is 4-13, 1-3 in conference.
