College Roundup: UCI men’s basketball improves to 5-0 in Big West

SAN LUIS OBISPO — Senior Ioannis Dimakopoulos had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the visiting Anteaters in the Big West Conference game Wednesday.

Tommy Rutherford added 11 points on five-for-seven shooting for the Anteaters (12-9, 5-0 in conference), who extended their winning streak to seven games.

Senior Luke Nelson had just three points in 11 minutes and suffered what Coach Russell Turner said after the game was a tweak of his hamstring.

Turner said it is believed that Nelson will be available when the ‘Eaters visit Cal State Northridge on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Cal Poly (5-13, 0-4) shot 24.1% from the field.

Irvine Valley 87, Orange Coast 70

Kamar Reese had 16 points and Josh Mendoza and Tim Pena had 15 apiece for the host Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference game Wednesday.

OCC fell to 7-13, 0-5 in conference.

IVC is now 11-9, 2-3.
