High School Roundup: CdM boys’ soccer takes care of Moorpark

MOORPARK — Grant Joyce converted a penalty kick in the 63rd minute, helping the visiting Sea Kings in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs on Wednesday.

The Sea Kings (15-3-5) advanced to Saturday’s quarterfinals. They face the winner of Thursday’s second-round match between No. 1-seeded Godinez and San Luis Obispo.

Jon Wirta scored the first goal in the 38th minute for CdM on a throw-in from Brandon Cargile.

CdM goalkeeper Christopher Bartolic blocked a penalty kick midway through the first half, and Matt Katz played well on defense.
