High School Roundup: CdM Coach Emme collects win No. 300

IRVINE — CdM players doused Coach John Emme with Gatorade after he collected his 300th win in a Pacific Coast League opener on Friday.

Emme is in his 20th season with the Sea Kings.


Preston Hartsell went three for four with a triple, home run and three runs batted in. Pitcher Tommy Wilcox delivered six shutout innings, giving up seven hits. He struck out four and walked two. Alex Shadid pitched one shutout inning and went two for three for CdM (5-3, 1-0 in league).

Estancia 14, Godinez 1

SANTA ANA — Adam Auriemma improved to 3-0, throwing six scoreless innings and striking out seven in the Eagles' Orange Coast League opener on the road Friday.

Estancia scored 13 runs in the top of the seventh.

Brian Rodriguez went four for five with two doubles and four runs batted in, and Jake McIntyre was two for five with two RBIs.

Estancia (5-5 overall) plays host to Saddleback on Monday at 3:15 p.m.

Costa Mesa 8, Saddleback 2

Dominick Santos went three for four with two runs batted in, a triple and a double, helping the Mustangs win their Orange Coast League opener at home on Friday.

Johnny Hopkins was two for three with an RBI for Costa Mesa (6-4 overall), and Miguel Rodriguez tripled.

Marina 8, Newport Harbor 5

The Sailors led 3-0 through four innings, but the Vikings rallied for eight runs in the fifth inning of the Sunset League opener at Newport Harbor on Friday.

Clay Liolios (double, RBI), AJ Stefano (two RBIs) and John Olmstead (RBI) each went two for four for Newport Harbor (6-4, 0-1 in league).

Isaiah Seward had eight kills and five blocks as the Tritons edged out a five-game win Friday at home.

Game scores were 25-22, 25-19, 22-25, 19-25, 15-11.
